Mayak eggs, also known as Korean “drug eggs,” are soft-boiled eggs marinated in a savory-sweet sauce that’s highly addictive. The marinade typically includes soy sauce, garlic, sugar, sesame oil, and chili, giving the eggs a rich, umami-packed flavor. After marinating for several hours, the eggs absorb the delicious flavors, making them perfect over rice or as a snack. The name “mayak” comes from how irresistible these eggs are, leaving you wanting more with every bite.

Key Ingredients for Mayak Eggs

  1. Eggs – Soft-boiled to perfection, they absorb the marinade for a rich, savory bite.
  2. Soy Sauce – Provides the salty, umami base for the marinade.
  3. Sugar – Balances the saltiness with a subtle sweetness.
  4. Sesame Oil – Adds a nutty, aromatic flavor that enhances the overall taste.
  5. Garlic – Infuses the marinade with a bold, pungent kick.
  6. Chili Peppers – Adds a spicy element for those who love a bit of heat.
  7. Green Onions – Freshens the flavor and adds a bit of crunch.
