Bone broth is a nutrient-rich stock made by simmering animal bones — often beef or chicken, — along with connective tissues, vegetables, and herbs for an extended period of time, typically 12 to 24 hours. This recipe will save you lots of time. This slow cooking process extracts collagen, gelatin, amino acids, and minerals such as calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus, resulting in a savory, nourishing liquid. Praised for its health benefits, bone broth is believed to support joint health, improve digestion, and promote healthy skin due to its collagen content. Beyond wellness, it’s also valued in the kitchen for its deep, rich flavor, serving as a base for soups, stews, sauces, or enjoyed simply as a warm, comforting drink.
Types of Bones for Broth
The choice of bones greatly influences the flavor, richness, and nutritional profile of your bone broth.
- Beef Bones – Use a mix of marrow bones, knuckle bones, neck bones, and oxtail for a deep, hearty flavor and a high gelatin content that gives the broth body. Roasting beef bones before simmering also enhances the savory, umami taste.
- Chicken Bones – Opt for carcasses, necks, backs, and feet. Chicken feet are especially prized because they’re rich in collagen, resulting in a silky, nourishing broth. This version tends to be lighter and more delicate in flavor than beef.

Health Benefits of Bone Broth
- Joint Health – Rich in collagen, gelatin, and amino acids like proline and glycine, bone broth may help support cartilage and joint flexibility.
- Gut Health – The gelatin in bone broth can aid digestion by supporting the protective lining of the digestive tract, making it popular among people with gut issues.
- Skin, Hair & Nails – Collagen from bones and connective tissue may contribute to healthier skin elasticity, stronger nails, and shinier hair.
- Immune Support – Nutrients like zinc, magnesium, and calcium help strengthen the immune system and overall wellness.
- Anti-Inflammatory Properties – Amino acids such as glycine and glutamine can help reduce inflammation in the body.

- Pressure cook on high for 1 hour, allow it to naturally release pressure.
- Remove the bones into a separate bowl and using a fine mesh sieve, strain the broth out into a heat safe bowl.
